‘Hey honey, how was work today?’

‘erm… er… I don’t wanna talk about it’.

In this next piece our psychotic anti-hero Trevor wakes up in the middle of nowhere in just his underpants. Part of the genius of Trevor, is when we switch to his character, he’s always in a funny situation in which we’re just picking up the tail-end of a story and have to fill in the gaps ourselves. Makes me laugh every time!

Once again our Bender-esque hero akes up in a ridiculous situation, this time on top of a mountain with a pretty little number on… oh deary deary me.. .Trevor, what would we do without you?

Basically I can post any old tripe on my blog (waddya mean ‘we know’?) but this article actually had to make it past an editor who’s editting for an ezine with 22 MILLION monthly hits.

So yeah, today? Today is a good day :)

Real Gang Members Feature as Voice Actors in GTA V

Today I’m scouring my browser, ready to pounce on any snippet of news abot Grand Theft Auto 5, my most eagerly anticpated game this year.  I see that Rockstars Lazlow Jones proudly proclaiming that they used ‘real gang members’ to voice over for ambient characters within the game.
Let’s have a look at the quote

“When we record all these ambient characters that are in the world we go towards authenticity,” said Lazlow during his discussion with WGN host Nick Digilio. “So in the game, part of the element of the story is that there’s these gangs, these rival gangs.”
“There’s black gangs, there’s Latino gangs, and we recruited a guy who gets gang members, like actual gang members, real gang members. I mean, El Salvadorian gang dudes with amazing tattoos and one of which literally had gotten out of prison the day before.
“And we brought these guys in to record the gang characters because, you know, you don’t want a goofy LA actor who went to a fancy school trying to be a hard gang member. There’s nothing worse than that. So just go find the real, terrifying people and say, ‘Can you come in here please?’ And they look at the lines and they say, ‘I wouldn’t say that. If I was upset at another gang, I wouldn’t say that.’ So, well, then say what you would say. Authenticity, you know?
“There’s a lot of sessions that we would have where we would just throw the script on the floor and be, like, ‘This thing we wrote is irrelevant, let’s actually work out something real.’”

The first issue I’m going take here, is the line “you don’t want a goofy LA actor who went to a fancy school trying to be a hard gang member”
What, you mean like James Woods? Samuel L. Jackson? ‘Cos, erm, they’ve done voice acting for GTA in the past y’know? They went to ‘fancy’ schools, are you actually saying we should discriminate aginst someone who got themselves educated in their craft, or tha the fact they went to ‘fancy schools’ prevents them from portraying characters realistically?

You think samuel L. Jackson is incapable of portaying a ‘hard’ character? Or james Woods lacks the ability to portray a psychopathic gangster?

Take your time to think of an answer, ponder this too.

My next issue is: “There’s black gangs, there’s Latino gangs, and we recruited a guy who gets gang members, like actual gang members, real gang members. I mean, El Salvadorian gang dudes with amazing tattoos”

How fuckin racist do you wanna come across as here? No white gangs then, or just not worthy of mention. You wanna hit on stereotypes the most, think that raises your street cred do ya? Well ya fuckin wrong matey. You couldn’t be more wrong if your butt was screwed on top of your head. although maybe it is, cos you seem to be talkin out of it.

Y’know what, I’VE got amazing tattoos, care to have a guess over what effect that has on my ability to voice act?

He goes on:

“and one of which literally had gotten out of prison the day before.”

Wow Awesome! Care to tell us what he was in prison for? Accountency fraud maybe? Political protest? Or do you just want to plant a seed that as he has tattoos and is no doubt one of the aforementioned latinoes or blacks let’s just roll with ‘gang related’.

I’d actually like to know who’s voice I’m gonna be hearing here, am I listening to the voice of someone who got a role based on theft, violence, murder? Rape?
More details please, you’ve impressed the fuck outta me that you are willing to ‘get real’, but why stop there? Why not get VICTIMS of real crimes to voice what it’s like when a gang member breaks into their home and threatens their lives? How cool would that be!

The victim could then say, “No, I wouldn’t say that if a guy with amazing tattoos broke into my home, I would say this”
I mean man, authenticity, y’know?

I’ve got some news for you.

When I play games, I want escapism. I’m perfectly cool with us playing at being an assassin, or a taliban soldier when I’m on the other team in battlefield, or an outlaw in RDR, and even a gangster in GTA.

But learn where the fuckin dividing line is, fantasy is fantasy but believe it or not, reality is real. It’s fine in a fantasy to bang your neighbors wife, do it in reality and someone gets hurt. And some peoples reality is way more important than your desire to gain publicity for a game that every single media outlet will be covering as much as they can anyway.
Have a good day.

Yeah bitches you got that right.

I’m told today by an extremely reliable source, and no, don;t be fuckin’ stoopid I ain’t gonna name it :D

It will run smoother than shit off a shovel in glorious ultra HD, player count for Online not yet determined, but player count on Xbone will be zero!

I can’t say 100% certain that there will ‘never’ be Xbone GTAV, I’m betting on a timed exclusive of 6 months, but I can say 100% that by May next year, PS4 users will be on GTAV, Xbone won’t.

Or I smash up my PS4 and put it on youtube!

Have a good day y’all!

Share your The Last Of Us Videos on Facebook!

Hey guys!

Do you make The Last of Us videos?

Are they:

  • Great Gameplays?
  • Sweet Edits?
  • ‘Leet Montages?
  • Funny?
  • Full of awesome beats?

Whatever type of video you’re doing, I want them. I want them so bad it hurts like my ex-wife dentist doing some cavity work with a power-drill.

Here’s the link if you’d like to share your The Last of Us videos on facebook, if you’d like to learn more about why, read on Macduff!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheLastOfUsVideos/

On a serious note, everyone who does videos knows how hard it can be to get your work seen, all that effort and you end up with half a dozen views.

People who think YouTubers do it for the love are wrong, we do it for fame, for recognition, to get laid and bring in wealth beyond the dreams of a stoned avarice.

Posting a video on YouTube is not enough to get noticed, what you need is visibility across different platforms, all linking to each other.

You see, YouTube and google LOVE back-links, these occur when your video is linked across different sites. Each time you get a post on facebook, on twitter, on YouTube, your presence is felt just that teensy bit more on the interweb. Online guru’s refer to this as ‘link-juice’, and for very good reason. It’s the petrol of the interweb, it drives the traffic we all need to thrive.

Simply by posting in these pages you get more link-juice!

We all love juice don’t we?

Any questions feel free to contact me on YouTube or Facebook, or twitter, or even yell out of your bedroom window if you’re close enough!

One last thing, if you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel yet here’s a handy link :D

Promote your Black Flag Videos!

Ever been really proud of a gaming video? I mean stupidly proud, you want to shout from the rooftops and get every gamer out there to watch it?

Not easy is it!

I know only too well what it’s like, believe me, so I’ve decided to start individual Facebook groups for other gamers to get their videos out there.

Now obviously these are just new, don’t expect to get overnight success, but over time, who knows, maybe if we all support each other we can give other a leg up?

You’re probably asking yourself, ‘Why should I bother, what’s in it for me?’

Well that’s the wrong question my friend, ask not what a fb group can do for you, ask instead what you can do for others!

Damn that’s not quite as snappy as Kennedy is it?

Anyhoo, there actually are advantages to having your video linked in to places other than the standard ones, every time you’re video is linked in to another page somewhere, it tells google that you’re engaging people with your videos, and google LOVES engagement!

Just by having some reciprocal links, or back-links, it pushes you up one step further to being found on search engines.

More importantly tho, this page will be a place to meet and engage with others who share your enthusiasm for each specific game who also love to make videos about it. A great way to get in the ground floor and meet people to collaborate with and expand your audience!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/141698572707339/

Without further ado, here’s the link, I hope to see you there and hope it helps your channel even if it’s just a small way for now,

I’ve started the ball rolling with some ‘anticipation’ videos, feel free to add your own, no need to wait till the game is out eh?

Adios!

How to get a YouTube Partnership with a Gaming Channel

Hi folks, MM here addressing some common questions and concerns about how to get a YouTube partnership with a gaming channel. Although mostly I’m asked about Gaming Channels, the following applies no matter what kind of content you have, and is equally suitable for musicians, artists, comedians and aspiring overthrowers of governments.
I frequently get questions asked about becoming a partner with SocialBlade/RPM, what are the benefits, will I become rich ‘n’ famous, will it get me laid, and how hard is it to get in. (That’s what she said.)

Ok ok I’m sorry, I been watching loadsa re-runs of The Office, damn I love that program!

Anyhoo, where was I?

Oh yeah, firstly, it IS easy to get in. RPM, like a lot of companies, have realised that making itsy bitsy money off millions of small channels is more productive than making ‘some’ money out of massive channels. So yeah, entry requirements have dropped, and as long as your channel follows some pretty simple guidelines and is producing fairly frequent content you should have no problem at all getting in.

Note that being partnered with RPM or similar is NOT the same as being partnered directly with YouTube. Youtube partnership requirements are extremely high for most gaming channels, we’re looking here at becoming an affiliate partner through a network.

Will you become rich ‘n’ famous? No. Well probably not. Some do, I’m not one of them and if I knew HOW to get rich ‘n’ famous I’d already be there, so stop asking silly questions!

You will however make ‘some’ money, I’ve made enough to pay for my HDPVR capture device and get a few games into the bargain. Not bad for a hobby I love! Most hobbies don’t actually pay for themselves, so it’s pretty cool for it to be able to self fund. There is also the fact that the videos I’ve put up will keep on making me money!

I’m always amazed that some of my older videos keep on popping up in my youtube analytics, some of them over a year old, still popping a few bucks into my bank account every now ‘n’ then, sweet!

One thing to be aware of, is that you CAN monetize videos without being partnered, however, those videos will have to go through a monetization process with youtube, and for gaming videos that will often only complete waaaay after the video has hit its peak views.

Being partnered means that your videos will be instantly monetized, and bringing in some pennies during that all important first week.

Will you get laid? Yes. Every day you will receive fan mail from people desperate to throw their body at you declaring how much they love your voice and incidentally a lot of these people are not only beautiful but insanely rich as well. win win.
(The above may just be a personal experience for me, I can’t actually promise you will receive the same experience)

One thing I should point out, is that entering partnership with RPM, like any other partner program, is a legally binding contract, READ IT!
Seriously, it’s astounding how many people I’ve seen asking for details AFTER they’ve signed the contract!

Bottom line time:

A partnership with RPM/SocialBlade can very easily earn enough to pay for your hobby. It’s easy to do and has loads of benefits to help your channel grow.

NEVER sign anything without reading and understanding,

Lastly, if you decide to give it a go, can I ask you to use the referral link below? It means I get referal income as well! (this doesn’t come out of your revenue, it comes from RPM!)

Referral link: http://awe.sm/t3M9X

As a reward for signing through my link I’ll gladly give your channel a subscription, a  few tweets & likes, but more importantly I’ll give you honest feedback on what impression your channel makes on me. Honest feedback is the most valuable asset you can get for your channel, & I’m not afraid to call a spade a spade and give a true opinion!
Feel free to ask me any questions, adios and good luck if you decide to take the plunge!

One last thing, I’ve looked around a lot of different places for ‘how to grow your channel’ kinda stuff, and I just came across a small easy to read e-book tha I can highly recommend, I haven’t tried everything myself yet, but believe me I’m going to!

I’ve been playing GTA IV a little bit getting myself hyped up for the the latest iteration, and thought I’d better get a video done because I now have an incredible urge to go out and lay waste to my local town, so I may well be indisposed for a little while.
At least that’s what the Daily Mail would have us believe.
I’ve spoken before about the Mail and its ilk merrily publsing any old bollocks in whatever way will most pleasingly pander to its readers prejudices, but sometimes yellin gat my computer screen or smacking down a prostitute before stealing my money back just simply isn’t enough to vent my frustration.

Here’s the bare bones of the story:
An eight year old kid shoots his grandmother after playing Grand Theft Auto 4.
In the mind of the Daily Mail, that means playing Grand Theft Auto CAUSED the kid to shoot his grandmother.
Never mind looking at the multitudinal aspects of this tragedy, and hey let’s gloss over the fact that this CHILD could easilly get his hands on a gun, or that he shouldn’t have been playing a game clearly rated as Mature, let’s just blame something we don’t understand, and more importantly, pander to our readers prejudices.
Allow me for a moment, to take us back to the dawn of our civilisation.
I say dawn deliberatly, it is the consumate metaphor for understanding why th eDaily Mail is not just blowing hot air, but blowing hot air out of its puckered up arsehole.
The rooster crowed before sunrise, therefore the rooster caused the sun to rise.
For early man and some parts of Texas, this logic was and is infallible.
It is known in Latin as ‘Post hoc ergo propter hoc’, some of you may have come across it in the superbly written West Wing in this following clip:

As Martin Sheen tells us, not only is it not always true it is rarely true.
It is a logical fallacy.
It is dangerous thinking, it lies behind superstition and has been used to justify everything from prejudice to genocide.
It is to put it simply, the domain of fuckwits.
Here’s a simple question, simple enough for possibly even the Daily Mail to understand.
If you could only remove from that house one item, would the removal of the game or the gun have been most likely to prevent this shooting?
‘Cos although gun nuts are ever ready to tell us ‘guns don’t kill people, people do’, guns help.
They may even help more than video games.
Is anyone seriously gonna suggest that this kid would have beaten his grandmother to death with the box of gta? Yeah I know, it’s an asinine question, but if we’re delving into the  fucked up world of media reporting why the fuck do we need to resort to reasoning or sense?
So what’s the betting that on the back of this we see more calls for control of video games, most likely from the same people advocating two guns for every house?
Ah fuck it, I’m gonna go and kill a cop, this is Muppet out, bye!
